Creating the Production:  Glynis Brooks  Creates “Harriet Tubman–An American Hero”
Harriet Tubman is one of the most notable icons in American and African American history.  A hero and symbol of freedom, bravery and strength, it’s no surprise that performance artist Glynis Brooks, who has created and performed a variety of one-woman shows throughout her career set out to tell her story.  Brooks created “Harriet Tubman: An American Hero” after being commissioned to create a new one-woman show.  During her research on Harriet Tubman, Brooks realized there was much history and depth to the abolitionist’s story that the public did not know and chose to demonstrate how pertinent Tubman’s life and lessons are today for both young and old.

Creating the Production:  Creating “Miriam Makeba:  Mama Africa–The Musical”
“Miriam Makeba: Mama Africa the Musical” tells the life story of South African recording artist Miriam Zenzi Makeba.  Makeba brought the sounds of Africa to the western world in a dramatic fashion.  Makeba’s magical voice brought her international success, which supported her activism in helping to bring down apartheid in her homeland.
