Video thumbnail full-width
Grades: K - 12

Description:  The Colonial floor cloth is an art form dating back to fifteenth century France!  Originally made from the sails of ships, floor cloths served as wall hangings and table runners, but when the English discovered their functional value, they quickly extended the art form to rugs.  The fashionable colonial homeowner warmed each room and brightened its floors with rich, colorful, and durable floor cloths.
