Video Description: Lois Lowry’s Newberry Medal winning novel The Giver continues to be read and loved by thousands of young people each year.  How do you take the vivid and compelling characters in The Giver and bring them to life in a stage adaptation? • Use the video as your students study “The Giver.” Consider a flipped learning activity and have students come to class prepared to share two insights gained by watching the video and two questions they’d like answered through their own or class research.
• Use the video with theatre students as they analyze what it takes to create a production. Let them hear from professional playwright, actors, directors, and designers to see what is similar and different from their own experiences.
