Video Description: Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim was the recipient of the 2018 St. Louis Literary Award from Saint Louis University. Sondheim is the first lyricist to receive the honor in the history of the award, which is presented by the St. Louis University Library Associates. In this “Craft Talk” conversation he shares his perspective on the craft of musical composition in the world of musical theater and answers student questions.
