We offer questions to consider to help students spot any red flags.

Type of Video: Topical*
Unique Video ID: Media-7**

Quick Ideas for Using the Video:

  • Before viewing the video, have students discuss the term “fake news.” Have they heard it before? What do they think it means? Can news be “fake?”
  • After viewing the video, have students brainstorm examples of “fake news” they believe they’ve seen. Research a few of them on the Internet. What do they learn about the “news” event. Was it fake? If so, why do they think some people believed it.

*Topical videos are filmed on location in the classroom/workspace/laboratory, in studio, or a combination of both to explain and/or demonstrate specific concepts, events, topics, or processes.
