Quick Ideas for Using the Video:

  • Use the video with students in a career exploration unit. Before viewing the video, ask them what they think a typical day would be like for a television news reporter. After viewing the video, have them discuss their ideas with what they learned in the video.
  • As part of a media literacy unit, have students view news stories from their local station or online from stations in different cities. Have students discuss the subject matter as well as any media literacy implications they notice. Then view the video and have students discuss if insights provided by the video give them an additional “media literacy” perspective to use when viewing news stories on television.
