Quick Ideas for Using the Video:

  • Use the video with students in a career exploration unit. Before viewing the video, ask them what they think a typical day would be like for a features reporter at a newspaper. After viewing the video, have them discuss their ideas with what they learned in the video.
  • As part of a media literacy unit, have students read feature stories from their local newspaper and discuss the subject matter as well as any media literacy implications they notice. Then view the video and have students discuss if insights provided by the video give them an additional “media literacy” perspective to use when reading feature articles in their local newspaper.
