Video Description: Glynis Brooks, in the persona of Harriet Tubman, answers student questions about the life of this American hero.  Questions include: Were you born into slavery? Where did you live as a slave? How did the Underground Railroad operate? How could you be sure you were working with friendly people? Did you actually lead soldiers in a Civil War battle? After the Civil War was over, how did your life change?

Quick Ideas for Using the Video:

  • Use the videos as part of your study of slavery and the Civil War as students learn about Harriet Tubman and others involved.
  • Use the video as part of a “Wax Museum” or other historic re-enactment activity so students can view a re-enactment performance to see what they will be doing.
