Free Interactive 3–Celebrating Military Families and Military Service

As part of its celebration of November’s designation as Military Family Appreciation Month, Educate.Today invites you to hear stories from veterans, those currently serving in America’s military, and the families of veterans and those now serving as they share their experiences while serving our country.  Learn about organizations dedicated to serving and supporting military families, and share your own stories of serving yourself, living in a military family, or projects of your own that celebrate military families.  Join us November 14 for a day-long interactive experience entitled “Celebrating Military Families and Military Service.”  More program information is available in the Program Guide below.  

You can choose to watch online at any time.  All times are listed for the Central Time Zone; please adjust if/as needed for your time zone.

Program Schedule:

The program will occur online from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Central Time.   Interactive chat, questions, and answers will be available online throughout the program.  From 8 a.m to 9:30 a.m. and again from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., you will have the opportunity to view archived videos at scheduled times via our home page “Live” banner.  From 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. you will have the opportunity to interact live with and learn from individuals currently serving in our armed forces, families of military personnel, veterans, and representatives of organizations committed to supporting military families, those on active duty, and/or veterans.  Send in your questions and comments to our guests and hear their responses.

For this session, we’ll talk with Darcella Craven of the Veterans Business Resource Center, an organization designed to help soldiers transitioning to civilian life and other veterans with business advice, access to loans, and a wide variety of other services.  You can learn more about their organization at https://www.vetbiz.com/.

11:00 a.m. Central Time–Interaction with Linda Ferguson, Jefferson Barracks Food Pantry

Located next to Scott Air Force Base, Scott Elementary School is a public school whose student body is 100% military families.  Meet some student and parents and find out what it’s like to be part of a military family.

2:30 to 3:00 p.m. Central Time–Interaction with Jennifer Singleton, Dogs for Our Brave

Interact with a puppy in training with Dogs for Our Brave that will become the service/support dog for a veteran in need.  Find out about this organization and ask your questions of its representative joining us.

3:00 to 3:30 p.m. Central Time–Interaction with Russell Avery, USO of Missouri

Meet and ask your questions of Russell Avery and find out how the USO of Missouri and USOs nationally and world-wide support our troops in service.
