Video Description: Gilbert Bailon, Editor of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch shares his insight and answers student questions on the importance of a free press, processes the newspaper uses to balance free press rights with other rights, examples of free press issues Mr. Bailon has been involved with, how courts determine what is appropriate “free press” and what isn’t and real-life examples and important Supreme Court cases dealing with the right. A special focus of the interview deals with student journalism and includes discussion of the landmark case Hazelwood v. Kuhlmeier.
