Video Description: 5th-grade students at Keysor Elementary got a one of a kind experience through MADCO’s Books in Motion. The program fosters an appreciation for the arts, love for reading, and hands-on experiences, as students, with the guidance of MADCO dancers, turn themes inspired from a pre-selected book into a dance production. View the video and brainstorm ways to use dance in your classroom to bring literature to life in a unique way.

Quick Ideas for Using the Video:

  • Use the video as part of a flipped learning activity. Have them view the video on their own and come to class with an idea for a book or short story they’d like to create a dance about. After discussing the video, have students offer their story ideas and brainstorm ways to use dance to bring literature to life through one of them.
  • Use the video as inspiration for a similar activity in your own class. Select a book students are reading and have them create a dance to express the the themes, characters, or plot elements of the book.
