Quick Ideas for Using the Video:
- Use the video as part of your students’ study of geography. Have students locate Russia on a map and calculate the distance from Russia to the United States. Have students follow up viewing the video by researching more about those countries and then sharing what they learned with the class.
- Have students discuss the cultural traditions the guest described and demonstrated during the video. Which one did they find most interesting? Why? Do they have any cultural tradition that are similar in any way?
- After viewing the video have students discuss and/or journal about the challenges faced by someone moving to America from another country. How do they think they could help someone from another country adjust to living in their town?
