Quick Ideas for Using the Video:

  • For Discussion: What is student reaction to the concept of the art exhibition? If they were to create art commenting on their own family history, what would they choose to focus on?
  • Activity Idea: Use the video in conjunction with a cross-curricular project/activity linking art with history/social studies and personal biography. What topic might students explore in a similar way to the artist in the video? What historic images, writings, artwork might they use in the exhibition they create? What issue would they like to address? Evaluate the project from an arts integration perspective using standards from both art and history/social studies disciplines.

*Tours take students to laboratories, studios, workspaces, museums and other diverse “in the field” and community locations related to the area of study.
