Visual Arts 185: Developing My Brand and Selling My Jewelry
4:03
Grades: K - 12

Video Description: Type of Video:  Topical Segment*

Jewelry artist Shayba Muhammad shares how she created her style and brand and what she has learned through marketing her art.

This video is one of many Topical segments available as part of our Careers collection.

In addition to the lesson plans and activity ideas included with the Teacher and Student Tools below, here’s a few quick suggestions for use of this video:

  • In part of the video, we see excerpts from some of Ms. Muhammad’s marketing videos.  Based on what you saw, how would you describe her brand?  Who do you think is her target audience?  What methods of persuasion is she trying to use to sell her jewelry?
  • Prior to viewing the video, have a short discussion about the term “branding.”  What do students think it means?  How do they see it come to life with products they are familiar with?  After viewing the video, continue the discussion.  What new insights into “branding” have students developed?

Topical Segments (1-20 minutes) are filmed on location in the classroom/ workspace/laboratory, in studio, or a combination of locations to explain and/or demonstrate specific concepts, events, topics, or processes.  For more information on different types of videos available in the Educate.Today collection, download “Educate Today Types of Videos.”
