Video Description: Type of Video:  Profile*

View this Arts/Arts Integration video and meet Sam Stang, glass artist.  In this video he shares examples of his work, demonstrates the process for creating his work, describes influences on that work, and the nature of his career doing his work.

This video is one of many in our “Meet the Artist” video series.

In addition to the lesson plans and activity ideas included with the Teacher and Student Tools below, here’s a few quick suggestions for use of this video:

  • What are some of the chemical processes that happen when glass is molten, color is added, and the shape is formed?
  • Write an opinion on what is considered art, and why. Ask students to provide clear examples and focus concepts such as color, form, concepts…rather than ‘I like it’ statements.

*Profile videos (1-10 minutes) highlight interesting people doing interesting things in the area of study.  For more information on different types of videos available in the Educate.Today collection, download “Educate Today Types of Videos.”
