Video Description: Description:  Meet St. Louis’ cardboard artist.  Using old boxes and scraps, Justin King fashions large whimsical animals and other sculptures then places them in public for people to enjoy until time and weather take their toll on his work.  In this video, he talks about how he “got into” cardboard, the process for his work, and demonstrates techniques for creating a bust sculpted from cardboard.

• For Discussion: Use the video in a flipped learning activity. Have students watch the video on their own and in class discuss their reaction to the artist’s use of cardboard as his medium. Do they like it? Why or why not? Is this art or craft or both? What would they like to create out of cardboard? What artistic principles that you’ve talked about in class do the students see him using as he creates his sculptures?
