Quick Ideas for Using the Video:

  • As a STEM or critical thinking activity, have students take on the role of space engineers tasked with ensuring safety and success for astronauts engaged in a space walk outside their capsule. What situations would they need to consider? What technology from today could help them? Then have students view the video to see how engineers attacked the problem with very different technology.
  • <;i>Have students doing a History Day project, Science Fair project, or another type of independent project on the space race, space exploration, or a related topic? Provide the video as a primary source for their research to hear directly from engineers who worked on the Gemini missions.
