From the first two Native American women to the first two Muslim women, all were elected into office, making it the largest female freshman class ever elected to Congress. Still, they make up less than 25 percent of Congress. Why? Veteran New York Times reporter Jennifer Steinhauer explores the answer in “The Firsts: The Inside Story of the Women Reshaping Congress.”
